But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion

Our Struggle: A Story of Compassion
At the core of Compassion Madagascar resides the touching tale of Elodie Prisca RANJANORO, the Founder of Compassion Madagascar. Back in 2010, she was a medical student, working within a resource-constrained hospital. This experience highlighted to her the urgent demand for immediate action, as she was faced with the harsh realities of extreme poverty impacting sick children in Madagascar.
Inescapable Misery: The Harsh Reality of Numbers
The evidence is tangible: according to the 2017 UNDP report, around 80% of the population live on less than $1.90 per day. This is a direct barrier to accessing essential healthcare. This extreme poverty has a devastating effect on children’s health, exacerbating malnutrition and further compromising the effectiveness of the healthcare system.
OUR VALUES
Compassion
Without compassion, we wouldn’t act to help the community that is reaching out to us for help. With a compassionate heart, we help build a better world.
Sharing and mutual aid
No one is independant in every way, we need one another. Madagascar needs us all to be committed, responsible, generous and helpful.
Solidarity
The contribution of all those who share our vision is required. It is by being responsible for one another and by joining forces that we can achieve the greatest accomplishments.
Integrity and transparency
We are committed to the highest feasible level of integrity, transparency and accountability because absolutely all our Beneficiaries, Donors, Partners and Stakeholders deserve it!
Compassion in Action: Transformations and Hope
For 13 years, Compassion Madagascar has been at the forefront of a genuine transformation. Our unwavering dedication has brought significant change to the lives of thousands of sick children across the country.
Yet, our work is far from finished. Our commitment endures, and we will continue to strive for an even greater positive impact. Every child, every supported family, is a cornerstone of our mission, and we are committed to expanding our reach to touch even more lives, offering renewed hope to those who need it most.
Collaborative Partnerships: Realizing a Vision
Our strategic alliances have played a pivotal role in distributing emergency medications and vital resources to over 2000 children each year.
Since 2017, our partnership with STAR has been a fundamental pillar in this effort. Simultaneously, our collaboration with Orange Solidarité Madagascar has been instrumental in the establishment of 30 Kangaroo Mother Care centers, providing crucial care for premature and low-birth weight babies.
Okalou, through its annual event called Loko Race, continues to support Compassion Madagascar.
In 2021, our partnership with the Fanainga program was decisive in providing access to specialized care for over 600 premature or low-birth-weight babies. This initiative was supported by the Principality of Monaco, GIZ, the European Union, and the Embassy of France, showcasing a robust multinational partnership to aid needy Malagasy children.
Continuing the Mission: A Never-ending Commitment to Malagasy Children
Our mission for the well-being of Malagasy children does not end here. It’s an ongoing commitment, a story in motion. Our vision spreads through the continuous establishment of new Kangaroo Mother Care centers across Madagascar. We aim to expand our support, provide more opportunities for these young lives, while accompanying their education. This effort is just the beginning of a series of actions towards a brighter future for these children and their communities.
Meet the Team
Compassion Madagascar is propelled by a dedicated and passionate team that works consistently to bring about positive change and sustainable impact in the lives of children, youth, mothers, and vulnerable communities in Madagascar.
